Mendoza & the West
The Andean West of Argentina encompasses the provinces of Mendoza, La Rioja, San Juan and San Luis. This area, known locally as “Cuyo”, is the heart of Argentina’s wine region. The landscape is dominated by vineyards and wineries set against a backdrop of snow capped Andean peaks.
Mountaineers come in droves to climb Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas, and skiers are drawn to the exclusive slopes of Las Leñas ski resort. This is also a region of thermal springs, volcanoes, spectacular valleys and magnificent national parks, such as Valle de la Luna and Talampaya.
