Spa

Argentina has a good selection of both urban and country spas. They tend to be located within luxury hotels and, therefore, the treatments on offer are generally geared towards the top-end traveller.

Useful info

The spas use many local products. Patagonian organic mud is used in skin treatments, for example, for its high mineral content.  Along the wine routes, grape and wine-based spa products are all the rage. “Winetherapy” has become a staple option on Argentine spa menus. And what better way to wind down after racing around the bodegas of the wine regions or the tourist attractions of Buenos Aires than relaxing in an indulgent bath of Malbec?

In Buenos Aires the spas are exclusive, calm spaces that offer an escape from the accelerated pace of the city. Jet-lag recovery treatments are particularly popular among those that have just touched-down after a long-haul flight.

In Patagonia, the best spas have wonderful views across the lakes, glaciers, steppe or mountains. After a day of horse-riding or trekking, a well-deserved deep tissue massage or session in the sauna will revitalise you for the rest of your trip.

Córdoba and San Luis are ideal destinations for wellness and spa holidays due to the area’s pure air; calm, hilly landscape; and healthy, natural surroundings.

Tips_

  • For the ultimate in pampering at the End of the World, try the spa at Los Cauquenes Resort in Ushuaia, with its magnificent views across the Beagle Channel.
  • For a “gaucho” experience without leaving the hotel, ask for a yerba mate based face mask.
  • The province of Entre Ríos is famous for its therapeutic thermal waters.
